Energy Business


Since the earlier days BTHomestead’s business in fossil fuels as in petroleum retail and wholesale was with Mobil Oil (M) Sdn Bhd. The partnership carried on for a few decades until Mobil Oil’s exit from Malaysia in the early 1990s.

However with promising prospects of the diverse business opportunities in the energy sector BTH has decided to  return to the energy business in order to establishing it as one of its pillars of growth going forward. The energy sector encompasses wider opportunities and possibilities for power generation harnessing the resources of bio-fuels & biomass, fossil fuels, geothermal, wind and solar that promise greater growth potential for BTH.

BTH’s interest in growing its energy business has led it to partner with Petron Corporation an emerging and rapidly evolving Asian oil company.BTH’s strategic move places it well in undertaking the expansion of the oil & gas sector once again. Petron Malaysia shares the same roots as ExxonMobil in Malaysia, tracing its lineage to 1933 with the formation of Standard Vacuum Oil Company. Petron has evolved to meet the challenges of the dynamic markets and today, it is the largest oil refining and marketing company in the Philippines, supplying nearly 40% of the country’s oil requirements.

In 2011, Petron marked its foray into Malaysia with the incorporation of its holding company, Petron Oil & Gas International Sdn Bhd and the acquisition of ExxonMobil downstream subsidiaries in 2012.

Petron Subsidiaries in Malaysia comprise of Petron Malaysia Refining & Marketing Bhd (formerly known as Esso Malaysia Berhad), a public listed company listed on Bursa Malaysia; Petron Fuel International Sdn Bhd (formerly known as ExxonMobil Malaysia Sdn Bhd); and Petron Oil (M) Sdn Bhd (formerly known as ExxonMobil Borneo Sdn Bhd).

BTH decided to partner with Petron because it is a major and reputable company in Oil & Gas, its involvement in refining and retailing of world-class quality of petroleum products and related services, BTH firmly believes it will help it to grow its energy business and also the country to meet its energy demands and contributes to the overall socio-economy advancements.  

Petron Port Dickson Refinery (PDR), which has a rated capacity of 88,000 barrels per day, produces a wide range of petroleum products which include gasoline, diesel, lubricant, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), industrial and commercial fuels, and aviation fuel. Its products are distributed via tank trucks to seven strategically-located depots and terminals which have been conferred many times over the years the prestigious Malaysian Society for Occupational Safety and Health (MSOSH) Award. Through this vast distribution network, Petron continues to supply the petroleum requirements to the county’s various industrial customers.

Petron’s robust petroleum marketing business encompasses over 550 service stations nationwide brings high quality, clean energy products to motorists. Beyond just a petrol station, Petron service stations provide a one-stop service experience to travelers on the road. Treats, the convenience store offers amenities such as shopping marts and fast food restaurants.

Petron’s premier LPG brand, Petron Gasul provides an efficient fuel energy to Malaysian households.

Beyond Petron’s business agenda, it takes its corporate and social citizenship to heart by integrating education and environment programs into its operations to ensure sustainability and contribute to social development.

BTH is very pleased to have met Petron’s accreditation requirements to build and operate the proposed service station. The service station will be owned and built by BTH which owns the land, building, and some equipment and also takes ownership of fuels, convenience store, amenities and inventories. Under this arrangement, BTH will sign on a Retail Trade Agreement with the Petron for a long term period.

Petron has over 550 service stations throughout Malaysia that provide its customers with innovative products and services. With the right support from Petron, BTH hopes to provide a delightful one-stop motorist experience!
